ICPH Convenes National Conference in New York City

NEW YORK (JANUARY 18, 2012) — Advocates, policymakers, researchers, and more began arriving at the Millennium Broadway Hotel in Times Square this evening for the Institute for Children, Poverty and Homelessness' 2012 national conference, Beyond Housing: A National Conversation on Child Poverty and Homelessness, kicking off two days of discussion and exchange among leading experts on child and family welfare from around the country.

With the percentage of Americans living in poverty at its highest level since 1993, the conference offers a chance for leaders working to address this burgeoning national crisis to share details about their experiences and move closer to consensus on best practices. Session topics include the education of homeless students, accessing federal funding, promoting healthy lifestyles for families living in poverty, the changing face of homeless veterans, and more. The conference will also feature a special screening of the documentary on the edge and remarks from ICPH's President and CEO, Ralph da Costa Nunez.

For a full conference itinerary, check the Agenda page of the Conference Web site. And be sure to follow along on Twitter for live updates over the course of the conference. Follow @ICPH_Homeless and use the hashtag #BeyondHousing to contribute.
