Health & Well-Being

Faced with educational and housing instability, homeless high school students also struggle with their mental, emotional, and physical health. This community of young people faces consistently worse health outcomes than their housed peers on indicators including depression, suicide, dating violence, substance abuse, food insecurity, and bullying.

In part because of these health challenges, homeless students are less likely to finish school, follow professional goals, and remain stably housed in their adult lives. Understanding the roots of these disparities and how we can address and heal those impacted is essential.
