NAEHCY: Achieving Academic Success for Homeless English Language Learners

10/29/18 | 3:15 PM-4:30 PM

ROOM: MALIBU

Presenter: Kaitlin Greer

In New York City, 1 in every 6 ELL students is homeless. Yet too often, programs treat students in temporary housing and ELLs as distinct groups, putting students at risk of falling through the cracks. In this session, participants will discuss best practices to connect homeless ELLs with early supports to help them achieve academically on pace with their peers. This session will highlight the academic needs of homeless ELL students in elementary school.
